HeadStart Project Shout Outs

HeadStart Hull have published their first newsletter, in which we were delighted to find not one, but two shout outs for projects at Cornerhouse.

Having delivered the Young People's Peer Mentoring project since the pilot project started in 2014 we are proud to have been involved in HeadStart ever since.  Estelle, our project coordinator ran the project single handed before HeadStart received funding for 5 more years in 2016.  Her team, now five people strong, runs 200 young peer mentors in secondary schools across the city of Hull.  The team are holding a celebration event next month to thank the peer mentors for all their hard work - they are a fantastic group of young people! To find out more about the project visit howareyoufeeling.org to read the HeadStart blog.

HeadStart was also able to help us with funding from their Summer Activity grants bring to life a dream of creating the regions first ever Pride Prom.  We created it in partnership with Step Out, Shout, Lollipop and TPSG Hull Dragons (Formerly Trans Youth Hull) youth groups.  It was an amazing success and taking place the evening before Pride in Hull, there was an incredible buzz about the whole week.  With 56 LGBTQ+ young people attending, it was a fantastic night and hopefully the first of many to come!  To find out more head back to howareyoufeeling.org here!
